Lexmark Bar Code Discovery is an embedded
MFP application that created templates to
enable bar code reading in Scan to
Network Premium. The Lexmark Bar Code
Discovery solution quickly locates the bar code
and accelerates the bar code reading process.
Description
Using Bar Code Discovery, an administrator
can create and manage bar code templates to
specify the location and type of bar codes that
users will frequently scan. Other applications
can then access these templates to reduce the
amount of time it takes to scan and identify bar
codes on a given printer.
Why do companies use barcodes
on documents?
Did you know you can add barcodes to the
documents and forms your organization
creates? Doing so gives the scanned image
a readily identifiable key (a patient, client or
customer ID), which allows for easy storage
and retrieval in a database or content
management system.
How does using Bar Code Discovery help?
Instead of having to scan an entire page and
then identify the type of barcode on the page,
a user can create a template with BCD.
This BCD template basically says, find barcode
of type ABC located at (x,y). Our other LXK
scan-to-apps (ex: Scan to Network) can use
this template to quickly find the barcode on a
document and process the document.
Using the BCD template improves ease of use
and efficiency for Scan to Network.
